Does 2.0 mean “cutting out the middle man”? If so then Damian Hirst has just created his version of Art 2.0 by showcasing his art in Sotheby’s auction rooms.
Funny but I was just talking about this with my colleague Salvatore Reina who was saying that this is the way that the art world is moving. Salv is right. Just as the music industry is going down the pan with Web 2.0 it’s only inevitable that art will follow suit. What’s next? Banks? Pharmaceuticals? Religion?
Along with Web 2.0, Art 2.0 is bucking the trend of the credit crunch / recession / crash.
